I recently realized that after nearly 2.5 years of maintaining Sweet & Clean Reads I’ve never really done proper introduction post!
I guess that kind of tracks since the first six months or so of my Instagram account I didn’t even show my face!
But now it’s time to rectify that and introduce you to me- the face behind Sweet & Clean Reads.
About Me
Hi! I’m Jenn, the face behind Sweet & Clean Reads. I’m an avid reader of clean & closed door romance, a homeschool mom to four incredible boys, a wife, writer, and a homemaker. I love to read romance & good books with my kids.
How Sweet Clean Reads Got Started
I started Sweet & Clean Reads in 2022 because I wanted to share about the romance books I was reading. I didn’t even know Bookstagram was a thing, I just wanted a fun hobby for myself! Imagine my surprise when I found an entire community of readers!
What makes this page unique is that every romance book I read & share is free of sexually explicit content and contain little to no swearing.
Right now this blog is mostly about books, but I’m slowly expanding into sharing about my other hobbies like thrifting and how I’m bringing character into my home using books as decor.

Why I Also Share Kids Books & Family Movies
Recently, I also began to share more wholesome kids books. As a homeschooling mom of four boys I know how challenging it can be to find quality, wholesome books for our children to read.
Especially if you have a super fast reader who devours books faster than you can pre-read or research them!
I’m always on the hunt for wholesome family read alouds; books for boys that teach good values; and movies that we can enjoy together.

What To Expect from Sweet & Clean Reads
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I recommend sweet & clean romance books across all genres and in varying lengths.
You’ll find wholesome family read aloud books as well as family movies on this blog and my Instagram page. I started sharing these because I know there are a lot of women who are concerned about content in their romance books AND in their children’s books & movies as well.
I share book recommendations as individual reviews and as collections. I also have an ongoing series of videos called “Sweet & Clean Books You Can Find At The Library.”
WRITING UPDATES:
In 2023 I started writing my own books & stories. I haven’t published a full novel yet, but I hope to one day! And in the mean time, I write short stories as much as I can!
HUMOR:
I don’t know about you, but I come to social media for a quick break from reality – not to fight about…whatever it is people are arguing about that day. I try to keep this space light and fun with plenty of jokes and humor about reading and the bookish life!

SWEET
Books are rated sweet when they have that feel-good, swoony, Hallmark type vibe. Most importantly – they have a happy ending!
Some books might deal with heavier topics like grief, addiction, sexual assault, etc. – but the overall vibe of the book leaves readers hopeful, not emotionally wrecked. Read more about how I define sweet romance by clicking here.
CLEAN
Books on this page are rated clean when they contain little to no swearing; are free of heavy sexual innuendo & graphic violence; and do not contain sexually explicit content.

CLOSED DOOR
Closed door books are romance books with no on-page sexual intimacy.
Occasionally, I may feature a closed door romance, which will be clearly stated when the book is shared. Closed door books featured on this page may contain swearing and implications of physical intimacy between characters.
Sweet & Clean Reads Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take on ARC books?
I used to and I loved it! I really enjoyed working with authors and sharing about their books. But my schedule just doesn’t allow for it anymore. My family is my first priority and that means I do not currently take on most ARCs.
Are the books you recommend good for my teenage daughter?
As a general rule of thumb, my answer to this is no.
Even though the books I share are free of sexually explicit content they’re still written for adults. Which means the characters might face adult situations like divorce, pregnancy, or just daily adult life (like a job) that a teen might not relate to.
Having said that, the books you find here are certainly a better alternative than many of the spicy books your teen might be finding on social media.
Do you have a book recommendation for…..
One of the questions I get asked the most is “do you have a book recommendation for…[fill in the blank]”. The answer is I might! I have book recommendations all over my page and saved in my highlights, so I always recommend checking there first.

Ratings & Content Guides
STAR RATINGS
Star ratings for me are more about the vibes of the book. If I give it 4 or 5 stars I enjoyed it! If it’s on my feed, it’s worth the read!
If I’m not loving a book I will not finish it, I rarely share these titles. If I do share a book that I choose not to finish it will only be because of content that some readers might find offensive or upsetting.
CONTENT CONSIDERATIONS:
Language:
None: no swearing
Mild: few instances of mild swears like d*mn or h*ll
Moderate: several instances of mild swears + more severe swear words like sh*t or f-bombs; does not take away from plot
Explicit: excessive swearing that is distracting and takes away from the plot
Sexual Content:
None: no romance
Kissing Only: chaste kissing, low to no innuendo
Moderate: more intense kissing, possible innuendo
Closed Door: heavy kissing and/or innuendo, intimacy is hinted at but not described
