Trope Talk – Brother’s Best Friend + Sweet & Clean Book Recs

Posted on July 8, 2024July 8, 2024 by sweetcleanreads

✨ Trope Talk Tuesday- this week’s trope is BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND

There is something about this trope that hits just right. Usually you get a protective older brother, a shared history between the male and female lead (sometimes even a secret relationship from the past), and just the right amount of pining for each other.

The diversity of this trope makes it extra fun because you can pair it with fake dating, forced proximity, boss/employee, enemies to lovers….and get a fantastic romance. The possibilities are endless!

Here are some of my favorite sweet & clean titles with the Brother’s Best Friend trope:

The Heartbreaker I Adore by Haley Zaragoza– she’s bookish, he’s a firefighter, age gap

Off-Limits Cowboy by Kristine W. Joy – single dad, he’s a billionaire, protective brother

That Time I Kissed My Brother’s Best Friend by Julie Christianson – enemies to lovers, second chance vibes, novella

Passion or Penalty by Leah Brunner– hockey romance, mutual pining, novella

What are your thoughts about the BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND trope?
