Clean Romance for Valentine’s Day

Posted on February 10, 2025February 13, 2025 by sweetcleanreads

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I don’t know about you, but it always puts me in an extra lovey mood. This means I’m on the hunt for clean romance for Valentine’s Day.

Sure, I read romance all-year round, but there’s something all of the pink and red hearts everywhere that make me want more! Give me all the sweet romance centered around the day of love!

Surprisingly, there aren’t a ton of options out there. But I did a little digging and rounded up 5 of the cutest Valentine’s Day books + 5 adorable Valentine’s Day Hallmark movies, just for you!

This blog post might contain affiliate links, which means when you purchase through my link I earn a commission at no additional charge to you. You can click here to read more about that.

What is a clean romance?

I wrote a whole blog post defining clean romance, but essentially it’s romance that doesn’t have any sex scenes or swearing.

So you’re getting a love story that has more of a PG vibe. Think of a Hallmark movie or something that wouldn’t make your grandma blush.

How do you define sweet romance?

I also wrote a blog post about sweet romance. When I use the term sweet I mean feel-good, low angst, not super stressful kind of movie or book.

So you’re probably not going to see any heavy themes in a sweet romance. Mostly the book or movie will feel light and fun. Any hard topics will be dealt with in a hopeful way.

Sweet & Clean Romance Recommendations

Now that you know how I define sweet and clean romance, you can rest assured that any book (or movie) that I share on this blog will always be clean (meaning there’s no on page sex or swearing) and sweet (meaning it’s lighthearted and hopeful).

And I’ll always share if there’s a bit of content I think you’ll want to know about (like a little bit of mild swearing, or some heavy kissing).

This probably goes without saying, but just so you know, I never share spoilers. Ever!

With all that said, let’s dive into some clean romance for Valentine’s Day book and movie recommendations.

My Phony Valentine by Courtney Walsh

A chance meeting. A hunky hockey player. A fake romance. Hardly an ordinary day in the life of Poppy Hart.

My days usually consist of agonizing over my failing restaurant, worrying about my mountain of debt and nursing my broken heart.

Everything changes when I bump into a man in the coffee shop and claim him as my new boyfriend. To my absolute horror, he turns out to be hockey’s most renowned bad boy, Dallas Burke. To my absolute delight, he goes along with my story.

When his no-nonsense manager and meddling grandmother jump in the picture, they see a win-win solution for my failing restaurant and Dallas’s less-than-stellar reputation.

A full-fledged fake romance complete with contract negotiations, pretend dates and phony PDA.

But as I get to know the real Dallas Burke, who is not the man the press says he is, it becomes clear that if this isn’t real. . . someone better tell it to my heart.

The Valentine’s Bet by Kristine W. Joy –

What happens when a hopeful romantic bets a grumpy skeptic that love really exists?

Now that I’ve landed my dream job in NYC, I’m finally ready to find Mr. Right.

What better way to meet new people in a big city than a speed dating event?

Or so I thought—until I got stuck with the biggest cynic in the room.

Parker’s disdain for love drives me crazy, yet there’s something about his icy blue-green eyes that draws me in.

Determined to prove to him that love exists, I find myself betting him that I can find a boyfriend by Valentine’s Day.

Yet somehow, every cringe-worthy date I endure ends with Parker swooping in to rescue me.

As our rivalry evolves into an unexpected friendship, I catch glimpses of the caring man hidden beneath his tough facade.

Now, I can’t ignore the flutter in my heart when he’s around.

But is it just the thrill of competition, or is there something deeper brewing between us?

Valentine’s on Palmar Island by Susanne Ash

When a photographer and a carpenter are forced together, love becomes the real project.

For photographer Charlotte Bennett, Palmar Island is supposed to be just another job—until she meets Grant Lawson, the talented carpenter with a deep love for the island’s history. As they race against time to complete her project before Valentine’s Day, their professional partnership blossoms into something more, thanks in no small part to a scruffy dog determined to play matchmaker. But as Charlotte captures the island’s historic beauty, she finds herself drawn to the idea of staying long after the job is done. Will Grant be able to convince her that home isn’t just a place, but a person—and that love is worth the leap?

Valentine On Palmar Island is part of the A Valentine’s Sweethearts Story – Coming in 2025!

Love is in the air, and romance blooms sweeter than candy hearts!

In charming towns across the country, love awaits those with open hearts this Valentine’s Day. Fate brings together couples who discover that true connection goes beyond sweet nothings printed on candy. As they navigate the season of love and their own hesitations, they learn that sometimes, all it takes is one heartfelt message to change everything. Each story in ‘Valentine’s Sweethearts’ celebrates the joy of finding love during the most romantic time of the year.

He’s So Not My Valentine by Savannah Scott

Valentine’s Day should be outlawed.

Here are a few fun facts about me:
1. I do not love Valentine’s Day.
2. I love coffee.
3. I’ve never left the state of North Carolina.

I’m not complaining. I grew up in the quaint town of Harvest Hollow, met my charming husband, and had our amazing son here … That was before my “charming” ex-husband decided he needed to expand his horizons.

Since that time, I’ve been raising Nate alone, with the support of my family, and running Cataloochee Coffee like it’s my own business.

I’m not looking for romance–especially not at this time of year when everyone couples up in the name of a dead saint who happens to be the patron of lovers, epileptics and beekeepers.

When Rene Dubois comes from France to visit my sister and her husband, I obviously keep my distance. I don’t need his kisses to my cheeks, his flirty banter, or the way his bright green eyes make me feel flutters in my belly and tingles across my skin. I don’t do flutters or tingles.

My sister keeps assuring me Rene is amazing and harmless. But she’s the dreamer in the family. Rene may be gorgeous, have a buttery French accent, and a charismatic personality. All I know is He’s so not my Valentine.

Wild Card Valentine by Ash Keller –

A florist done with love and a football player off his game—this Valentine’s Day, they’re each other’s wild card.

After a disastrous football season, NFL star Joe Matthews retreats to his hometown, Honeysuckle Ridge, West Virginia, looking to escape the spotlight. The last person he expects to run into is Ella Banks—his quiet, quirky high school classmate, now the owner of the town’s charming florist shop. Ella’s sworn off love and sees Valentine’s Day as just good business, but when Joe walks into her shop, old sparks ignite. She’s anti-romance, and he’s scared to put his heart on the line, but sometimes love blooms in the most unexpected places.

Clean Romance for Valentine’s Day – aka Kissing Only Movies

It turns out that there’s a good amount of clean romance for Valentine’s Day in movie form as well. And the good news? All of these movies are sweet Hallmark movies! So you know you’re going to get that sweet, feel-good vibe without any explicit content. And, I’ve actually watched all of these! There’s just something about a sweet Valentine’s Day romance that I love and really cannot resist.

I highly recommend all of these, but if you had to pick just one…well I’d pick all five!
